First 3 images had a balance between natural light and a strobe. I was hand holding the strobe close to my lens because when it was on top of my camera I was getting weird shadows.
For the images above, I wanted to make it look like she was glowing, so I only wanted the strobe lighting her. To do this I needed a snoot. I did not have one so I made one with construction paper. What I did was roll the paper like a tube and taped it around the flash. This set up made the flash be direct. That is how I was able to light just her. Then, I allowed some ambient light come in but just a little so that you can see her body. I also held the flash in my hand and it was tricky to get the light to light mainly her face. I sometimes hit her hair/body or just missed completely.
For these third set of images, I just wanted to use the natural light that was coming in from her window. There is just something about natural soft light that I cannot put my finger on.
